Abraham and the Wisdom of the Egyptians
Many individuals, after becoming aware of their Israelite heritage, begin to abhor anything outside of themselves considered to be pagan/heathen, which is understandable but still an error in judgment. The Israelites have been strangers in many lands throughout the course of their history. As a result of this history, the Israelites have inherited many things while dwelling within other nations—some good things and some bad things. While in Egypt, the Israelites at one time became the most populous people in the land made many significant contributions to Egypt. It is recorded in the biblical record that the Most High God, I AM, commanded the Israelites not to abhor the Egyptians.
“… thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.” – Deuteronomy 23:7
Although the Egyptians were pagans, the Israelites, while living in Egypt, learned a lot of the wisdom of Egypt. The knowledge that the Israelites acquired while in Egypt would help the Israelites and their descendants establish dominant civilizations outside of Egypt during their various migrations. Moses is a prime example of the Israelites possessing the knowledge of the Egyptians.
“And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.” – Acts 7:22
Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians but what actually was the wisdom of Egypt? At the foundation of the legendary wisdom of Egypt was the development of the arts & sciences the Ancestor of the Israelites introduced this wisdom to Egypt. It would seem that Abraham was sent to Egypt, as part of the Most High’s plan, to set the foundation of the wisdom that would later empower his descendants in their quest to the land that promised to Abraham. Without Abraham, Egypt would not have achieved the mastery in the art & sciences that allowed for the development of such high culture as exemplified by Egypt and much later, the Greeks. Josephus affirms this assertion by that,
“He [Abraham] communicated to them arithmetic, and delivered to them the science of astronomy; for, before Abram came into Egypt, they were unacquainted with those parts of learning; for that science came from the Chaldeans into Egypt, and from thence to the Greeks also.” – The Works of Flavius Josephus, the Learned and Authentic Jewish Historian, By Flavius Josephus, PG 39

Jasher 12:15-17, 25-31 makes it clear that Abraham, after leaving Haran, learned the Hebrew language before he entered into the land of Canaan and Egypt. It is also interesting to note that Abraham, after learning Hebrew, studied the books written in Hebrew by his forefathers for 6 months. It was this information, which contained pre-flood wisdom, that Abraham introduced to Egypt.
A modern historian, Annette Reed, also examines the contributions Abraham made to classical civilizations, and the title of her dissertation labels Abraham as a ‘Chaldean Scientist”. The information she cites from Josephus and other writers clearly demonstrates an Enochian origin of Astronomy/Astrology/Mathematics but also posits a Babylonian, through Abraham, for the wisdom of Egypt.
“ ‘[Orpheus tells Musaes about God, that no one can see Him; for around [Him] a cloud has been fixed… Except a certain unique man, by descent an offshoot of the Chaldeans. For he was knowledgeable about the path of the Star, and the movements of the spheres around the earth, and in a circle regularly, but each on its own axis. [This Chaldean, Abraham, understood] how He guides the winds [that is, spirits, subsidiary forces] around both air and water.’ – Psudeo-Orphica (Recension B) vv. 21, 27-31 (cited in Clement of Alexandria, Miscellanies 124)
‘Abraham excelled all in nobility and wisdom; he sought and obtained the knowledge of astrology and the Chaldean craft, and pleased God because he eagerly sought to be reverent. At God’s command, he traveled to Phoenicia the cycles of the sun and moon, and everything else as well… [Later, when he was in Egypt,] Abraham lived in Heliopolis with the Egyptian priests and taught them much: He explained astrology and the other sciences to them.’ – [Pseudo-] Eupolemus (cited in Eusebius, Praeparatio Evangelica 9.17:3-4, 8)
Babylonian Cosmology with the earth surrounded by the waters and the abyss beneath the earth. Similar model was probably taught to the Egyptians (Mitzraim) by Abraham.
‘Abraham… came to Egypt with all his household to the Egyptian king Pharethothes and taught him astrology.’ – Artapanus (cited in Eusebius, Praeparatio Evangelica 9.18:1)” – The Bible as it was, By James L. Kuge, PG 139

Abraham’s journey, after leaving Babylon, in which he eventually travels through Egypt (where he taught them) before settling in the Land of Promise.
So again, according to Josephus:

Science came from the Chaldeans into Egypt, because Abraham was a Chaldean. However, it should be CLEARLY understood that the science of the Chaldeans, as advanced as it was, was only the beginning of Abraham’s wisdom because it was actually Noah and Shem who instructed him further in the true science and the knowledge/worship of the Most High God (Jasher 9:5-6, 19, Exodus 6:3).
It is important to note that both Shem and his father Noah (302 years older than Shem) experienced life before the flood and were 2 of only 8 people to survive through the flood while living upon the Ark with all of creation God chose to save. Moreover, Noah, who instructed his son Shem, was instructed by his father Lamech and his grandfather Methuselah (Jasher 5:6-11, 22-36) who was the son of Enoch who was the first to learn writing and the paths of the luminaries of Heaven. All of this wisdom, from Enoch to Noah and Shem, was taught to Abraham after he left the land he was born in. Basically, Abraham became the new Grandmaster and keeper of the pure heavenly wisdom and he was entrusted with the mystery knowledge. Shem was the annointed keeper of this wisdom and strict order of discipline and dedication to the Most High God under the title and Order of Melchizedek (Genesis 14:18-20, Jasher 16: 11-12) and he instructed and blessed Abraham.
Remembering that Abraham did originally come from Chaldea, the question remains, who were the Chaldeans?
Abrahams father Terah was a Chaldean who was the second in command under Nimrod, much like Joseph was in command after Pharaoh.

After Nimrod elevated Terah above all the other princes he then established the city of Shinar by advice of his councilors. Could Nimrods counselors have been aware an ancient mathematics and architecture that would allow them to advise Nimrod in ancient urban planning? The Tower of Babel, which was constructed under Nimrod’s command, was clearly the product of architecture and mathematics.
It is very interesting to note that according to, An Encyclopedia of Freemasonry and Its Kindred Sciences, Volume 2 (1912) by Albert Mackey, Nimrod is considered to be one of the founders of the Craft, Freemasonry, and was also a Mason himself. It is through Masonry that the ancient Tower of Babel was constructed:
In regards to Abraham’s mathematical and astronomical knowledge that he later imparted to the Egyptians, we find that not only was his father Terah the highly favored second in command after Nimrod but that he was also an idolater and a maker of idols (Joshua 24:2, Jasher 12:42-61). Clearly, Terah must have also been familiar with the mathematics and Masonry required to make the idols that he, Nimrod and all of the hosts of Nimrods kingdom worshipped. Terah understood how to “Square the Compass,” a knowledge necessary to construct the Tower of Babel. Abram/Abraham, one of the sons of Terah, was also familiar with this same knowledge and in fact surpassed the understanding of the Tower of Babel through his acknowledgment of the Creator of the Universe that lies beyond Infinity.
It is interesting to note that Nimrod himself was credited with the construction of a very special idol. The Chronicles of Jerahmeel contains a record of the Israelites finding seven golden bejeweled statues that belonged to the Amorites but were originally constructed by seven different extraordinary sinners—one of them being Nimrod.

7 golden idols like the Oscar awards. The god Ptah, the Oscar Award, the god Asar (Socar). All of these figures are idols.
Nimrod was able to create an idol of such fine craftsmanship that the record considered his skill to be ‘extra-ordinary’. Nimrod must have possessed a superior mathematical and astronomical/astrological knowledge (as well as the tools) in order to create this type of idol. A special feature of the idols was that it allowed the user to receive instructions and spiritual guidance from the celestial/spiritual realm. Some of this particular knowledge is discussed in the Squaring the Circle blog. A biblical word used to describe these types of idols is Teraphim.

These idols are known as Teraphim. Teraphim are objects or images used as talismans or used for oracular purposes.

The KJV translates Strongs H8655 in the following manner: image (7x), teraphim (6x), idol (1x), idolatry (1x).

In the 1963 film, Jason and the Argonauts, the statue of Hera was often consulted for guidance. The masthead of the Argonaut ship was also an idol of Hera that Jason used to consult for information concerning his voyage and what he deeds he should do.
“…the “teraphim” were fashioned after the human form—hence Michal’s selection of one of these to appear like the figure of her sleeping husband. Ezek. 21:21 also makes it clear that the “teraphim” were used for oracular consultation—“The king of Babylon… consulted with teraphim.” Later scriptures indicate that after Israel had apostatized from Jehovah they turned to the “teraphim” more and more—“For the teraphim have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain.”” – GLEANINGS IN GENESIS, By ARTHUR W. In order to create these Teraphim, the idol makers during Terah and Abrahams time had to use mathematics–geometry. Geometry and astrology are linked. Geometry and Astrology are linked because through specific geometric measurements, the spirits in high celestial places can be bound into physical objects. For this reason, the figurines of idolatry constructed using this specific math/geometry can be consulted like tarot cards of the astrological zodiac signs of the wheel of fortune.

“The Greek philosophers Plato, Aristotle, Pythagoras, and Euclid studied the proportion Phi (1/1.618) known as the Phi ratio and felt that beautiful creations respected certain geometrical laws displaying harmony. It is not known when the Phi ratio was first described or applied but it has always existed in the fields of mathematics and physics. Because the Greek sculptor Phidias used that proportion so much, it was called Phi, the Greek letter for the first part of his name. This proportion was also described by Leonardo Fibonacci of Pisa, in his development of mathematical sequences. Phi mask from Marquardt also used to ‘correct’ or ‘beautify’ the Photoshop digital modifications to create a more “pleasing” appearance; or so THEY say.

“This law of geometric harmony holds as true among the arts of man as in those realms which are the arts of God. Every building is geometric demonstration. As we may read in the pages of a learned student of this: “ The language (geometry) spoke in the sloping wall and massive pillar and flat roof of Egypt, or in the mighty piles of Chaldea, or in the Corinthian grace, or in Roman boldness; the heart was that of the geometrician who spoke as he dreamed, in anger, in epic, in poetry of stone and graceful curve—who planned by the plumb and the square, by the secret of the arch and the balance of accurate measure.” – The Builder: A Journal for the Masonic Student, Volume 4, PG 161
This Phi mathematics is also used in Temples and other building structures besides sculptures. Obviously, Nimrod and Terah were Teraphim worshippers. At the same time that they were worshipping Teraphim, Nimrod was building the city Shinar and the Tower of Babel. This advanced mathematics, based on astrology and astronomy, must have been used to build the tower of babel as well as the ancient cities. Modern, urban planning must have its roots in ancient mathematics and civilization, starting in Babylon after the flood.
An influential architect of the modern era, Le Corbusier, was aware of the ancient origins of architecture and urban planning and it’s relationship with astrology/astronomy. He incorporated these classical ideas into his modern work and helped pioneer the modern architecture movement.
“Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris, who was better known as Le Corbusier (October 6, 1887 – August 27, 1965), was a Swiss-French architect, designer, painter, urban planner, writer, and one of the pioneers of what is now called modern architecture…His career spanned five decades, with his buildings constructed throughout Europe, India, and America.”

Le corbusier’s cool portrayal of design based on universal geometric harmony discovered by the Greeks, is related to the harmony found in the Musica universalis or the Music/Harmony of the Spheres. This Philosophical and mathematical concept is used to reflect the harmonic movements of the celestial bodies in things terrestrial – particularly music. However, music is based on mathematical principals and these mathematical principals apply to the construction of any physical structure being that all physical creation is based is a product of audible vibration—music. Music, temples buildings and even cities can be constructed under these principles in order to dictate the flows of energy, especially when Phi-based mathematics (sacred geometry) is employed.
This is why different cities, towns, borough, province, state, or nation has a different “vibe” (vibration) to it based on the energy it conducts/resonates.
Just like the Teraphim can be used to trap/bind demons in a specific area, to be used for specific purposes, so can any other structure, that is fashioned using Phi, also have the possibility to host certain energies/spirits. As above, so below:
